Sunday Funday

Today and yesterday have proven to be very productive! I finally got my room all finished. When I moved home from my dorm, I had more furniture than I had room for in my bedroom. In my room I had a desk where I had my hair and makeup, a small rolling dresser type thing where I kept my clothes, my TV, bed, and huge dresser. At my dorm, I had a desk dedicated to homework and my computer and stuff like that. When I came home, I lost that because the desk I did have was taken and filled top and drawers with stuff I still needed. So I went to Ikea and bought a desk. I put it in the office in our house. It worked for a year until I started getting frustrated moving from my bedroom to my room and vice versa to do homework. Sometimes I'd want to do it in my room but that one paper I needed was still in the office, etc. It doesn't seem like a big deal but when I'm in the zone and trying to get stuff done, the last thing I want to do is make four trips to the office and back to get what I need. Fast forward to two weeks ago. I tried moving all my stuff around, but the simple fact was, there was not enough room. I wanted to get rid of the huge dresser, it was empty! I was just using it for the surface space on top. Also, I wanted to get rid of the wood desk I used as sort of a vanity. But where would all the stuff go? That was the problem. I like to get ready in my room so I couldn't put it in the bathroom. I wanted to put my rolling dresser in my closet but then I lost the surface space on that too. Long story short, my room was a disaster, stuff was everywhere not having a place and I was frustrated. I moved it ALL back to how it was. Then yesterday, I realized I completely forgot about another piece of furniture that I had had in my dorm. It is way smaller than my huge dresser, I can keep the surface space from the dresser, and it has a lot of spots for putting and organizing stuff. So I started moving. I put my "getting ready" stuff in drawer type things in the new piece of furniture so my wood desk was out of my room. I moved the empty large dresser out and the smaller furniture in. I put the rolly dresser in the closet, and moved my "working" desk in my room. Today I took the doors off my closet so I could put curtains I sewed up as the doors to my closet for easier access. After a trip to Target for some more boxes to go in the new furniture, I finished! Now I have one room I can have all my stuff in. Yay! It really opens up my room, too. Now that you've read the long mostly unnecessary explanation of my junk, here's a panoramic of my finished project!

Now I'm doing homework and enjoying my Sunday before the crazy week starts over again! Have a good week! :)

What a day!

Hi! Today was ridiculous to say the least. I did my usual math at 9 am, work from 11-2 then class at 3, but luckily my last 4:40-7:30 class was canceled! I made plans to hang out with Ashley instead. Before I could go to Ashley's house, I needed to go to Target to get some stuff. Among those things was another wall charger for my phone. I've been wanting to go get another one because on some days, I'm out of the house from 8 am to 8 pm and my phone starts having low battery around 2. I usually go to the plug under my bed and take my charger with me (except today of course!) but it's been a pain to do every day. Getting a second one to take with me all the time would be so much easier! Anyway, I had all my stuff, checked out and headed to Ashley's. Once I got there, I opened the charger, plugged it in, and it was broken. I was very annoyed. I drove BACK to Target, walked alll the way back to electronics and alll the way back and exchanged my charger for a new one. Back to Ashley's. Again, I opened it up and went to plug it in. I grabbed a car charger. Are you serious?! BACK TO TARGET. To the returns counter. Again. Back to the electronics department. Again. No more wall chargers left; the broken one was the last one in stock. This must be a joke. I returned the car charger and went to the Verizon store, they were a safe bet. I walked in and got a charger that I knew would work and clearly plugged into the wall. I even got a discount! I guess telling your story of three Target trips, an exchange and a return make the Verizon employee feel bad! This is an energy-saving, 9 foot long cord, green charger and I like it! It is good quality and it's worth the extra money (even with the discount) I paid for a Verizon brand one. Back to Ashley's. We (she) made home made chicken teriyaki with broccoli and rice! So delicious. After we had time to digest, we went and got Sprinkles Cupcakes. Mmmm! I tried the red velvet cupcake. Not my favorite, but not bad! After hanging out and of course girl talk, I came home and now it's time to watch The Notebook and go to bed. Toodles!

Scrambles

Hello! It's Wednesday night and I've had a nice relaxing day off. I got to sleep in and do homework all day. My mattress topper is very comfortable! I've unintentionally fallen asleep while on my bed twice already because it is so soft and comfy.
After I finally got out of bed this morning, I made breakfast/lunch. I wasn't in the mood for the daily bowl of Cheerios, so I decided to actually cook something. Yes, using the stove and multiple ingredients. I made a ham and pepper jack sandwich on whole wheat bread with two scrambled eggs in the middle! Yum! The tall glass of iced tea was delish too!
After lunch came the homework with Grey's Anatomy breaks of course! Then spaghetti and meatballs for dinner and now it's movie time before bed. So exciting, I know!

A Rainbow of Color

The other day, I treated myself to a mani/pedi. I picked out a teal looking color, which seems to be my new thing. When I was done getting my nails painted, the color was way darker than I thought it would be so I was a little disappointed. I went to the UV lamp to let them dry better and they glow! I kept thinking, this is some weird polish! When I left and walked into the sun, they were bright green! I guess the color just depends on what kind of light is on them.

This is what they look like inside.

This is what they look like outside, very green!

Don't ask why I have a UV flashlight, but I do.

No Need for Sheep

Recently I've been waking up every morning with back pain. It lasts throughout the day and it's starting to get really uncomfortable. My mattress set is about 10 years old. Yikes! There's the problem. After researching TempurPedic mattresses, I realized they are WAY out of my poor college student budget, even if I save for a few months. My solution: memory foam mattress topper. I looked online at lots of different places and read reviews and found one for a good price. It seems promising! Right now, I'm in the process of letting it take shape from the unpacking process. I can NOT wait for it to be fully ready for me to sleep on! It might take until tomorrow, though. Boo. I really hope this fixes my back pain! I'll keep you updated :)

My Story (In a Nutshell)

My name is Kalyn. I am 20 years old. I'm a junior at Arizona State University, majoring in Communication. I plan to graduate in May of 2013. I live at home for now, it is a great way to save money ;) I work at an insurance and financial planning company. I don't love it but I love payday. I am dating a Hospital Corpsman in the United States Navy. We have known each other for over 10 years and have been dating for about a year and a half, and he has been in the Navy for a year next month. Right now, he is stationed in Okinawa, Japan until the end of 2013, and I'm 7,000 miles away at home. Hopefully I'll get to go visit him while he's there, but it is very expensive. We are in the early stages of getting used to how our schedules will intertwine (he arrived in Japan less than two weeks ago). I've got a few other blogs, but they aren't that interesting so I guess I'm starting over. I don't exactly know what I'll be blogging about in this blog, but I figure it's worth a shot. Here goes nothing!
